Bhramashri Swami Sivanandha was born on the 11 April 1930 in Ponnamaravathy town in the Puthukottai Distric in the South Indian State of Tamil Nadu.

Swami Sivanandha was the fourth son born to deeply religious parents who were involved in medition and spiritual practices for a long time before Swami Sivanandha was born. At birth Swami Sivanandha appeared very bright and was thus named Gopalakrishnan. Swami's Primary and High School education were at Tanjore Distric. Swami excelled in education and sports. Swami hold severals degrees. He holds the Bechelor of Arts (B.A) in English, Economics and History and Bechelor of Teaching (B.T) from Puthukottai College, University of Madras. Swami also holds a degree, (B.A) in Methodology and Grammar from Mysore University. A Post Graduate Certificate in Phonetics and Methods was awarded to Swami by the British Council in Bangalore. Swami is also a certifird All India Athletics Coach.

Swami had a very colourful career. He was Physical Education Teacher and Warden at Thekkur High School in Rammad District for 12 years. Thereafter he was a lecturer, Assistant Headmaster and later Principal at Koppanapatti High School untuk his retirement in 1989. Swami had a wide interst in the esoteric Sciences and Astrology from a young age. From the age of 18 onwards Gurus. Swami also studied Numerology and Vastu Shastra. Swami is on adept in special Manthras and Homas.

Brahmashri Swami Sivanandha made his first trip to Malaysia in 1974 on the invitation of one of his former former students. Swami's personal knowledge and experience and his level of spiritual development impressed the Yogis and Sidhas in Malaysia.

Swami's ability to explain profound truths in a simple manner and scientifically garnered Swami an immediate following in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunie, Australia, The United State Of America, Canada, Britain.

Swami has traveled widely in Malaysia and Singapore and has taught the proper method of conducting Lakshmi Pooja in the home. Lakshmi Pooja is now being conducted in thousands of homes all over the world.

The original thrust of Swami's teaching was meditation. Swami's morden and scientific apporach to meditation removed some of the mysticism surrounding meditation. Swami made meditation accessible to all who are interested. Swami's own brand of Maha Yoga on Mahalakshmi is at the forefront of his teachings. Swami also taught various forms "thavams" or meditation like the "Siva Thavam", " Sooriya Thavam", "Navagraha Thavam", Mirror Meditation, Waterfall Meditation ect ect.

Amazing results have been reported by those who practise these methods of meditation.
